The Stacy Family papers, 1830-1915, are divided into series representing various family members who created the papers. The main series include the papers of Consider A. Stacy: certificates of appointment, correspondence, essays and poetry, legal papers, Circuit Court and Court of Chancery (Lenawee County, Mich.) case books, account books, school exercise books, scrapbook, and diaries; James A. Stacy: correspondence, essays, club papers, University of Michigan (UM) papers, autograph book and lecture notebook, Circuit Court case calendar, diaries, and memorial tribute; L. Loana Stacy: certificates of appointment, correspondence, postmaster papers, composition books, and diaries; Maria M. Stacy: correspondnce, legal papers, teacher certificates, account books, and diaries; and Scovel C. Stacy: correspondence, legal papers, and diaries. Additional materials include: miscellaneous materials, materials of other, less prominent family members, the entire Stacy family, and the Tecumseh, Adrian, and Fenton (Mich.) area. Numerous 19th century New Year's and some Christmas cards are also in the collection.

Consider A. Stacy (1817-1888) was a prominent lawyer in Tecumseh (Mich.), Judge of the Probate Court, Justice of the Peace, Prosecuting Attorney, Post Master, member of the School Board, and served on the State Board of Education. His son Scovel C. Stacy (1841-1895) graduated from the UM classical studies program (1864) and Law Dept. (1868). He was admitted to the bar in Lenawee Co.
